The Bug is Back

Published by quadmama at 10:22 am under Health Edit This

images21.jpegI should have known when I got sick over the weekend that it was a sign of things to come. Sure, I woke up yesterday feeling better, but tired… but by the end of the day I knew we were in trouble.

The bug attacked Sue-Sue right as she sat down to dinner. Yep, she hurled all over the table (and herself). It was all I could do to keep Roo, Cakes and Tortilla from getting sick simply from what they saw. Sue-Sue went directly to the bath and swore she was feeling better, but got sick again right at bed time. A few hours later I heard her getting sick again… but this time Cakes had the bug, too. Sue-Sue has been the hardest hit. I think I was up with her every half hour during the night. She’s had a little to drink but you can tell she’s down for the count. Cakes has some color back and has been requesting crackers, so I think that’s a good sign.

Roo and Tortilla ate breakfast and claim their stomachs feel fine. I think it’s just a matter of time, though. With four toddlers sharing the same room and the same toys, they’re bound to share the same illnesses.

Knowing how long the last bug stayed in our house (more than a week), I can’t say I’m feeling all that great today. The challenges of taking care of the sickies and keeping the healthy ones healthy and happy would take a toll on anyone. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that for some reason this bug skips Roo and Tortilla. Wish me luck!

((hugs)) It’s no fun when they’re sick. Hope you can keep the other two from getting it! And that you can stay healthy while taking care of them too (I know how hard it is!) Good luck and hope everyone is ship shape before long

Thanks for the hugs Jayewalking. I can definitely use them today! And yes, Oldwestmom, “Not again” is exactly what Hubby and I said around 3am when we realized this wasn’t going away anytime soon (that and some four letter words not to be used on this site)

Stomach flu is no fun. I have a real issue with hurling as a general rule, but, as a mother, with at least one child with an overactive regurgitation tendency, I’ve had to steel myself. Still, it’s miserable when they’re miserable.

Here’s hoping those sick recover quickly.

I think as parents we tend to steel ourselves against a lot of bodily functions we would never tolerate from anyone other than our children. Of course, I grew up with a sister who got car sick and ended up sick on me a lot, so maybe that prepared me for parenthood!

We resigned to the fact that when one gets sick they’re all going to get it. Now if Hubby can just avoid it…

Cakes is in better spirits today and actually asked for toast this morning. Sue Sue is definitely better but no where near 100%. She ate one bite of toast and said she was done. But they’re both drinking water and keeping it down. Roo and Tortilla still insist they’re fine (knock on wood!)
