Mommy is Now Mom
This has been going on for awhile and it makes me a little sad. Tortilla mainly calls me “mom” rather than “mommy.” I know, no big deal. The reason it bothers me is because it means my little girl is growing up. She’s only three and a half. Her sisters still call me mommy. I’ve even tried correcting her and saying “no…mommy.” She says “no…mom.” Lately the only time she calls me mommy is when she’s sad or scared. I think I was in sixth grade before I stopped calling my mom “mommy.” Tortilla (and all her sisters) still likes to snuggle and dole out hugs, so I guess it’s not all bad. When she stops doing that I won’t know what to do with myself.

You draw such a sweet picture of your little girl. So long as it’s respectful, it’s OK for her to call you something different.

I remember noticing things like that. Like, when did the kids stop getting excited when I came home? When did they stop running up to hug me when I saw them at school? When did they stop wanting me to tuck them in? It’s all part of growing up. All you can do is enjoy each day and treasure it because they change so fast.
Isn’t it funny thought that Hubby will probably always be “Daddy”? He’ll at least be daddy a lot longer than I’ll be mommy. *sniff*
